Concealer Tips

A concealer for dark circles helps in masking the horrible bluish and purplish under eye shadows and eye bags. Read on to know more about the best concealers for dark circles and how to use them.
Under eye dark circles are a common complaint among women. Caused by stress, poor blood circulation, fatigue, extra thin skin under your eyes, hereditary factors, hyper-pigmentation, allergies, or even illness, dark circles can result in those horrible purple and black shadows under your eyes. So even after the perfect makeup and the great haircut, your dark circles put a dampener on everything, making you look worn out and haggard.

While there are a number of dark circles remedies and eye creams in the market, the results are not really immediate. The best thing in such a case is to conceal your dark circles. A cosmetic concealer for dark circles camouflages the unsightly dark shadows under your eyes. However, unless you know the right application technique and the type, concealers can end up worsening the appearance of the dark circles and leave you with raccoon eyes.

How to Choose Concealer for Dark Circles

There are certain things that you need to keep in mind while choosing an under eye concealer for dark circles for men and women. The basic factor to be kept in mind is that the concealer chosen should be a shade lighter than the foundation color. Choose a long lasting waterproof formulation with a creamy emollient texture that provide ideal camouflage and coverage without settling into creases.

In addition to this, you also need to keep the shade of the concealer in mind. So for the bluish and purplish under eye circles, eye concealers in the shades of yellow, bisque or ochre are considered ideal for almost all skin tones. Tanned and olive skin tones with purplish eye circles should stick to the peach and pink concealer for dark circles while dark women who have blue under eye circles need to use caramel, dark coral or soft burnt orange concealer shade. Olive-based concealers are great for women who are riddled with red under eye circles while blue based concealers are best for the brown under eye shadows. Some of the best concealers for dark circles are All about Eyes Concealer by Clinique, Quick Cover by Chanel, Bobbi Brown Creamy Concealer and YSL Touche Eclat Concealer. Concealer for Dark Circles: How to Apply

Applying the concealer properly is very important as the right technique is what differentiates a well covered dark circle from those terrible raccoon eyes. Before you start applying the concealer, hydrate the area with an under eye cream with luminescence. This helps in moisturizing the delicate area of the eyes while brightening the complexion.

Once you've applied the under eye cream and made sure that it is completely absorbed into the skin, apply the foundation. This helps in masking the under eye circles while giving you a more natural look. Now start applying the concealer in thin layers to prevent a caked up look. This is irrespective of whether it is a lighter formula or more denser. Use your ring finger or a makeup sponge to tap the concealer under your eyes. Do not rub it in, rather dab it gently with the finger in a gentle, soft circular motion. Move out from the inside corner of your eye then back again. Keep doing this till the concealer is completely blended into your skin.

Finish off by lightly tapping on some sheer loose powder to set your under eye concealer. Make sure that you do not apply too much of the powder. Now smooth the powder in gently and blend it well to prevent the powder from settling into the fine lines and wrinkles. Read more on how to apply concealer.
