HP Elitebook 6930p Notebook PC

hp-elitebook-6930p-notebook-pc4For a price of $2100 you can now be part of that business elite who can afford expensive vacations and highly-priced notebook. The HP EliteBook 6930p notebook PC  is a business computer that is both solid and classy. The lid is made of anodized aluminum and the chassis is entirely magnesium alloy. Even if at 5.2 pounds it's not the lightest notebook around, it's definetly an option worth taking into consideration if you are looking for a computer which is both powerful and it will make you look even more elegant than an Armani suit.
The keyboard is a delight for both the eyes and the fingertips. When you type, the keys won't make too much noise. The keys have a special coating that does not attract fingerprints and it makes them six times more durable to scratches or any other aggressions. Above the keyboard you have a set of touch-sensitive controls which are good for many features, like wireless, presentation options, volume adjusting and security manager. These controls respond quickly to your commands and there is no need for hard pressing.

The 14.1 inch screen shows clear and bright images and you have wide viewing angles which is good especially if you want to gather around some people and show them something on the notebook. One of the most important things in a business notebook is the level of security that it can offer. It's important because people store important and sometimes secret files that can jeopardize the company if they fell into the wrong hand. Not to mention that someone could actually delete or modify by accident some important spreadsheets. Aside from the usual fingerprint reader which is located on the right side of the notebook, you have a 3D accelerometer that switches you hard drives into a safe mode if it detects sudden movement. I put my hands together and applaud HP, this is very original and a very useful business feature. The HP EliteBook 6930p notebook PC has some preinstalled software that is actually very cool and useful compared to the normal junk most of receive with our notebook. HP SpareKey is a program that comes in handy if you forget any of your passwords. There is a set of 3 questions to which only you know the answer (because you type it in when you configure the program's settings) and this is an easier way to perform authentication. Another measure of protection is the HP Privacy Manager that uses digital signatures an e-mail encryption to protect against identity theft.

Presto! BizCard 5 is another application that reads and processes business cards with the help of the notebook's webcam. There is a tiny slot in front of the notebook where you insert a business card face up but with the writing upside down. After that, you have to launch the software, push the scan button and close the lid so that the webcam faces the business card. There is a small LED on the lid and it will start glowing if the webcam is in the right place and then you should hear a snap sound a few seconds later. You have 3 USB ports, Ethernet and modem jacks, an ExpressCard/54 card slot, a FireWire port, VGA, an SD/MMC reader and headphone and microphone ports. The 2 mega pixel webcam produces clear images compared to other cams that have smaller resolution.  The unit reviewed has 2 GB of Ram (which can be upgraded to a maximum 4 GB) and a 2.4-GHz Intel Core 2 Duo P8600 processor. Due to these really good specs, the notebook will launch and run the applications quickly. Multiple tasking is not a problem either as you can listen to music, write documents and surf the internet in the same time at very good speed. 160 GB of disk space should be enough to store all your files and documents especially now that you have so many security measures, nothing is stopping you from storing important information on this notebook.

The graphics card is more powerful than what we expected to find in a business laptop. The ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3450 is usually a choice for those that demand top performance from their notebook. The battery life is also satisfying, with 3 hours and 30 minutes during continuous web browsing with the wireless turned on. This mean that you can rely on this notebook if you are in need of using it and don't have a power outlet anywhere near (and you can also depend on it if there is a long power out). If you need longer battery life, you can switch the 6-cell battery that comes with this notebook and buy an 8-cell one which costs around $140 but you should be able to use the laptop for a couple more hours.  It was nice to see that the guys at HP are really taking care of us and so they are giving you this notebook with a three-year warranty so this means buying this notebook is a really good investment.
